By doing so, not only will your house be more inviting to buyers, but you will have a lot less to move to your new home by donating or disposing of things you no longer need or use.

We’ve all heard of curb appeal. The first thing everyone will see is your front yard and entryway. Making sure they are clean and welcoming is the very first step. Invest in a cheerful welcome mat. Repaint your front door if needed. Continue the process throughout all outdoor areas, removing worn patio furniture, trimming shrubs, mowing lawns, and adding pops-of-color with flowers and plants.
When organizing the inside of your home, walk from room to room and focus on function. Do you need all of those cookbooks on the kitchen shelf, the ten decorative pillows on the bed, or the baskets of toys in the Family Room? Also consider closets, cabinets, and other storage areas. Buyers will be looking inside all closets, as well as kitchen and bath cabinets: they need to appear tidy and spacious.
Buyers want to be able to envision themselves living in a home. Make your home as inviting yet as neutral as possible by packing up family photos, trophies, and other personal items. Removing evidence of your lifestyle enables buyers to emotionally attach to your home while in turn helping you to detach. For security purposes, you should also remove anything that includes your contact information (such as paperwork, magazines, and medications) since there will be many potential purchasers walking through your home.
