San Jose’s Food, Drink & Entertainment Paradise: San Pedro Square Market

The hub of the Market is the Peralta Adobe, San Jose’s Historic Landmark #1, making it the City’s oldest building. Named after its most well known resident, Luis Maria Peralta, a sergeant in the Spanish military, the adobe was built in 1797. Purchased by the City of San Jose in 1966, the adobe was restored and it now serves as the epicenter of this popular meet-up market.
Located at 87 North San Pedro Square, the Market is a foodie fantasy, offering authentic eats including Vietnamese, (a bowl of Pho from Phonomenal Noodle House is a must-do!) Mexican, Mediterranean, Italian, American, to name but a few. Pasta, Italian wood-fired pizza from Pizza Bocco Lupo, sushi, tacos, burgers with an Asian twist from Konjoe Burger Bar, falafel, salads are all created by San Pedro Square Market’s the more than fifteen food vendors.
Libations are plentiful at the Market. Beer, ales, wines, and cocktails are served daily at San Pedro Square Market Bar, Vino Vino Wine Bar, and Market Beer Co. Vino Vino is “the cure for the common wine bar,” with thirteen wines served by the glass from their famous tap system and an additional thirty wines from local Santa Clara Valley and Santa Cruz Mountain wineries. Vino Vino has a full menu, ensuring you can perfectly pair your favorite vino. Choose from over 200 craft beers in your choice of a 22-ounce ‘bomber’ or direct from the tap at Market Beer Co. Many of the eateries, such as Blush Ice Bar and Raw Kitchen also have in-house bars as well.
Live music fills the Square each day of the week. Bands from Silicon Valley and beyond grace the Market stage, playing Rock & Roll, Country, Jazz, and R&B, inviting a lively vibe to this rousing public space. For those who love to belt out their favorite tunes on the mic, every Thursday evening from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Treatbot, purveyor of handmade ice cream, bake goods, and karaoke. Trivia aficionados can test their prowess at the Square’s Brainstormer’s Trivia night, while children and their caregivers are welcome to wiggle and whirl at the weekly Music and Movement class.
When the weather is warm, the inviting open-air plaza and sidewalk cafes are ideal locations to enjoy an artisan coffee from Bellano, dive into that delicious burger, people-watch, or dance the night away.
