Redwood City Salsa Festival

If you’re looking for a fun way to spice up your weekend, look no further than the 8th annual Redwood City Salsa Festival held on Saturday, September 26th. The festival takes place in downtown Redwood City and is overflowing with flavorful salsas, live music, entertainment, fabulous food and beverages and activities for the entire family.

At the heart of the festival is the Salsa Tasting & Competition, where chefs of all levels chop, dice and kick up the heat with their distinctive salsas. Festival-goers who purchase a salsa tasting kit get to take part by tasting the various fiery concoctions, deciding which salsa will be awarded the top ‘People’s Choice’ prizes while an experienced group of judges will award the winners of the mild and hot categories. Individuals or teams can enter the contest for a $50 fee. Interested in seeing if your secret salsa recipe can cross the finish line? Click here for more information or for an application.

After working up an appetite tasting salsa, attendees will have a wide variety of food from which to choose, provided by numerous eateries in the area. To help put out the salsa-induced fire in the mouths of many, there will also be booths offering tequila and microbrew tasting. If you’re a music lover, live Salsa, Latin jazz and reggae will play throughout the day on stages set all along the festival route.

Free hands-on arts & crafts projects and a designated play area with bounce houses and other activities ensure all members of the family have tons of fun. A complete schedule of events and entertainment is available online.

The Salsa Festival is held from 12 to 8pm on Saturday, September 26th along eleven blocks in downtown Redwood City along Broadway between Hamilton and Middlefield as well as on Theatre Way. Parts of Broadway and Theatre Way will be pedestrian-only, encouraging a safe, enjoyable family experience. Admission is free…but your taste buds may never be the same!
