Capitola Art & Wine Festival
September may herald the last of summer’s warmth “over the hill” but at the beach, the beautiful weather has just begun. The 36th Annual Capitola Art & Wine Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 8th and 9th, along the streets of the town’s picturesque village just steps from Capitola Beach.

To enjoy wine tasting, festival attendees must purchase a 2018 festival wine glass for $12 and tasting tokens at $1 apiece. Depending upon the winery, a tasting will require two to four tokens.
In the Marketplace is the Festival Food Court where mouthwatering cuisine is created by food artisans and local favorites. There is something for every palate including fresh fish and oysters from Bill the Oysterman, Japanese and Hawaiian dishes, authentic Mediterranean food from Zameen, and Café Cruise will be serving their delicious Californian cuisine. Or, grab a hotdog, a glass or freshly squeezed juice from Vida Juicery or cup of farm fresh coffee from Hidden Fortress. Indulge in desserts from vegan Vixen Kitchen and Souza’s Ice Cream & Candy, both sure to satisfy every sweet tooth.
Also located in the Marketplace will be over 150 fine artists working in a variety of mediums, all chosen by a jury to display and sell their wares at the event. From glass art to jewelry, photography to clothing and candles, oil paintings to earthenware and ceramics, this festival offers an incredible array of original, handcrafted work.
There will be live music and entertainment all weekend long. Street performers include the Great Morgani, one of Santa Cruz’s most infamous one-man shows. Santa Cruz Reggae/Rock band, Soulwise will perform Saturday afternoon from 2:30-4pm on the Bandstand Stage in Esplanade Park followed by Royal Jelly Jive, a San Francisco soul band that will into the evening. Kids will love the Art & Music Area designed just for them on Lawn Way in the center of the festival.
Admission to the Capitola Art & Wine Festival is free. Catch the complimentary shuttle from the Capitola Mall on 41st Avenue or the beach shuttle that departs from behind City Hall.
The Capitola Art & Wine Festival is a wonderful way to spend the day or the entire weekend. Enjoy great food and wine tasting, live music, and hundreds of artisan selling their wares while strolling the streets of Capitola Village, enjoying a cocktail at Happy Hour, or walking along the beach at sunset.
