On Saturday May 16th from 10am to 8pm and Sunday, May 17th from 10am to 6pm, the 10th Annual Maker Faire will be held at the San Mateo Event Center. Billed as the ‘Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth’, this is a family-oriented festival of mind-blowing inventions, astounding creativity and incredible resourcefulness.
Celebrating the grassroots Maker Movement, the Maker Faire attracts hobbyists, crafters, tech enthusiasts, educators, tinkerers, engineers and students who present their ground-breaking products and inventive contraptions to the thousands of festival attendees who come to be inspired and get a glimpse of what the future might hold.
The 2014 Bay Area Maker Faire boasted 1,100 makers and 130,000 attendees while the other flagship Maker Faire in New York included approximately 830 makers and 85,000 festival-goers. There were 131 Faires in 2014, which includes the many independently organized mini-Maker Faires across the United States and worldwide.
