It’s almost Labor Day weekend –and it’s beginning to feel a lot like… Summer? The warm weather in the past ten days makes me feel like summer has ~finally~ come to Silicon Valley and it’s time for a picnic! We cover a lot of great places for picnicking in Silicon Valley –and many of our favorites are wineries. But the prepared person comes with a plentiful picnic pack just ready to pair with that perfect Pinot. Don’t you think?
For the impromptu picnic – one of my favorite places to shop is Draeger’s Market in Los Altos or Menlo Park. First – and most important – cheese. Draegers carries over 250 varieties of cheese – from American homestead cheeses to imported gooey artisanal fromage with a nice French accent. Add a crusty baguette, some olives from Draeger’s vast olive bar, some sliced salami, a few berries – and voila! Your picnic basket – actually masquerading as a Draeger’s grocery bag – is ready for the short trek to your favorite local winery.
Taste a wine or two, buy a bottle of your favorite, and plant yourself on the patio of your favorite winery for a leisurely picnic. Enjoy your Silicon Valley summer!
